Herdship Farm high in Upper Teesdale.
Nestled in one of the most beautiful and forgotten dales valleys,
Upper Teesdale is home to the majority of England's, traditionally
managed, herb-rich meadows and wild summer flower pastures.
With it's characteristic dry stone walls, field barns and
rough grazing land, the Upper Dales of Teesdale create an
important habitat for internationally important breeding birds
such as the Curlew, Redshank, Yellow Wagtail, Lapwing, Oystercatcher,
Snipe and Blackgrouse.
To maintain this balance farmers of the upper Dales reduce
the use of chemicals, restore the wildlife habitats and safeguard
the traditional architecture of the Dale.
Farms in the upper dales of Teesdale are recognised nationally
as leaders in the promotion of environmental awareness and
Herdship Farm won 2 major awards in 2002 for the advances
we made.
We are very fortunate to live in such an environmentally
rich area and invite you to experience a small part of England
you may never have known existed.
We welcome visitors to Hedship Farm, invite you to try the farmwalk and now have
available a true dales farmhouse, called Frog Hall, available
for rent as a holiday cottage.
Please take a look around the site for more detailed information.
